Session 2, Day 1!

We as a staff were thrilled to welcome our new group of students arriving for Session 2 yesterday.

The Session 2 students arrived on a beautiful day in Boston; they found on their doors nametags and a schedule of where to report for classes the following day.

Students were given time to unpack their belongings and greet each other, and then we headed over to the dining hall. Afterwards, we gave introduced ourselves, gave the students a quick orientation, and established rules & routines.

Then it was off to the races with typical camp activities. A game of soccer broke out. The sound of laughter came from the suites. Students inquired about nearby fast-food restaurants. And, after a long day of travelling for many of our students, doors were shut and lights were off early.

All for the best. After all, on the first day of their SAT/ACT Prep course, students take a diagnostic test, which mimics the format and rigor of the actual SAT & ACT exams. The data collected from this “faux-SAT” is used to establish their strengths and weaknesses to individualize instruction, so the more accurate the data, the better.

Meanwhile, by the end of the first day of their College Prep class, students are already producing a first draft of a potential college admissions essay.

Can’t wait to get started!
